I Only Write with My Phone

For some reason or another, 'tism related or just me being fucked up in general, I always write on my phone. When I say write, I mean write. Sure, I'll reply to Discord messages on my PC. I'll write video descriptions on my laptop. But when it comes to longer form stuff, stuff that captures myself and my own expression - that's when I break out my phone. I open Color Notes. I don't have my notes synced on there. Those get backed up to a file maybe like once or twice a year. The other half of the year I just have to not lose or break my phone.

Color Notes has like 90% of all of my video or comic panel ideas.

This one is from an upcoming comic panel.

the monster can't decide between shibuya kei and visual kei

This is just idk maybe I'll fit it into my christmas zine.

you're not an adult until you've had to use the advanced search from the global address list in outlook

Here are 3 more excerpts from the next Monster in the Cave zine (there are two collections already, 30 pages each, and you can print them out).

the monster bought its cave before the cave market became prohibitively expensive

the monster regularly throws hundreds of dollars of cash into busy sidewalk tash cans

the monster derives sick pleasure from watching humans fight over trash money

I wrote that with my thumbs. I know it's slower than typing on a keyboard, which I also suck at. Idk, I'm thumbing out hehe haha bits that my wife can draw - all in the hope that we're creating the Great American Zine.

Below are some notes I thumbed up for my ChromeBook Linux tutorial, typos and all!

the $9 living room pc
-video about buying chromebooks and installing linux on them
-show the coolstar and mr chromebox sites
-difference between a distro and a desktop environment in paint
-package managers, compare to app store
-recomend the retroarch appimage and show the different retroarch views
-mention you could configureva fleet of chromebooks with pxe installs or ansible

I've spent a lot of Saturday nights getting out of the shower, and sometimes I'm way too high. These hazy Saturdays come and go. Color Notes will be the first screen I look at while I dry off. My thumbs are going wild. My body's trying to keep up with my brain. I've got so much I want to say about stuff. There's so much I want to teach the world. I want to make cool things for my cool friends, stuff we can all look back and laugh at.

Suddenly, I'm at my computer. I've got some Celsius powder in a water bottle next to another water bottle with just regular water. I've disconnected my laptop's power to avoid static. I've got my "background music" playing at 22% on VLC. I've done my mic check. Now I'm hitting alt+\ to start recording on OBS. Anywhere from 2 to 30 single takes later and I'm now running the OBS recording through an ffmpeg script to smooth out the loudness for youtube.

ffmpeg -i input.mkv -filter:a "loudnorm=i=-14" output.mkv

These seems to prevent my stuff from being to quiet after uploading. No idea what a LUF is, but YouTube likes it at -14 LUFs. LUF me, I guess.

Then comes the upload. It's probably 12am. I've spent a night making the wacky thumbnail in paint, deciding what jokes to throw in and just generally putting together a tutorial or whatever. Sometimes they're tutorials. With its wacky title and a collection of related links in the description, it's out there. Cringe kino is out there and I'm already excited to make more. I can't stop doing wacky personal projects so I can make videos.

Once my voice is better, I wanna work on this one next.

recreating my cellphone from 2008
-Nokia 6131
-cellphone strap
-button to open phone on side
-2GB micro sd card
-pirated java games
-3GP simpsons from pspiso
-ringtone trimmer application, both original application and ffmpeg
-eyeshield 21 outside screen wallpaper
-would use dgrayman ringtone
-raw manga because I heard japanese people read manga on their flipphones

You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling (of working on increasingly elaborate personal projects on your days off).
